Approved For Release 2006/12/19: CIA-RDP96-00787R000200020045-1 STAT September 23, 1977 Hal Puthoff and Russ Targ SRI Menlo Park, CA 94025 Dear Hal and Russ, I finally received a reply from Senator Proxmire which seems rather encouraging. I hope that you will still have an opportunity to use this with your potential funding sources. He never responded to the original letter which I sent him several months ago. Perhaps it was too complicated or aggressive. Recently I sent another letter. I don't have a copy of the original, but I am sending you a copy of the rough draft on which my letter to the Senator was based. The final copy is just a bit more polished. Although the second letter doesn't mention your work as specifically as the first letter, I did send him a copy of the UC Extension brochure for the summer program which lists both of you as lecturers--as well as Ed and Elizabeth. I believe that I will complete the initial statistical analysis of my remote-viewing data sometime in the next week. Hope and Elizabeth have now finished the judging. It's clear to me that at different times during the training program everyone in my group exhibited greater than 90% accuracy in remote viewing--with perhaps one or two exceptions. Often the most striking instances were not during the formal experiments. I hope to have the complete dissertation finished by mid November. Best of luck in your own work. I hope that we can work together on some future projects. (Today I am meeting with the president of an oil company to analyze some pilot remote-viewing experiments on four of his oil fields.)
