(S/NOFORN) Source 46 observed several areas in the vicinity of geographic coordinates during the period 9 October 1980 to O/A 23 October 1980, which are des- cribed below: a. (S/NOFORN) A desolate, rolling area with the ground opening into a mound. Several large holes in the ground were seen in this area, numbering four or five. This desolate area is bordered on one side by a strip of green. b. (S/NOFORN) A continuous column of fire going straight up. C. (S/NOFORN) A metal dome shape like an old hangar. In- side this dome shaped structure, a-proximately four very heavy fork lift type vehicles were observed maneuvering/manipulating large cylinder objects. The cylinder objects were approximately 3 feet to 4 feet in diameter. The interior of the structure was variously described as a big storage area for huge pipes and a maintenance area within which the cylinder objects were worked on. 2. (S/NOFORN) Source 46 reported that on or about 27 September 1980, a rocket like vehicle was observed in a hole in the ground, poised for take off. 3. (S/NOFORN) Source 46 reported that on 12 October 1980, a large cylinder which was observed inside the warehouse structure on 9 October 1980 was to be gone. Maintenance and/or assembly of a smaller cylinder object was scheduled to have begun by 15 October 1980. The activity cycle of this smaller cylinder object was reported as follows: a. (S/NOFORN) The assembly of the front portion to the main cylinder portion was to have begun by 18 October 1980. This was reported to be part of the final assembly process. The front portion of the cylinder object was described as the "carrier", the center portion is the power source, and the tail portion is the fuel. b. (S/NOFORN) Completion of the assembly process is scheduled for O/A 20 October 1980, at which time the cylinder object is to be moved from the warehouse. Movement is to be accomplished on several carriers having rollers. C. (S/NOFORN) After movement for an unspecified distance, the cylinder will be erected into a vertical position at it's final destination. it is scheduled to remain stationary at this location for approximately three days, and will be "launched" NwPO' on or about 23 October 1980.
