           Summary: Unlike 'Ll' (a 'flawed end product'), L2 is perceived
           as possessing the characteristics of an 'upgraded' piece of
           equipment, as if the capability of something in the (AOL-Soviet)
           inventory had been 'enhanced' through a technical change--like
           new components/assemblies--perhaps to the point where the
           thing/system could even be employed in a new functional role.
           An 'electronic box' seems to be especially important in this
           regard.
                Also, the gesthalt of 'directionality' is somehow associated
           with this thing, but the idea must be explored further...
