                            STATEMENT OF WORK
Phase II--Knowledge Development
     Goals: To define further the characteristics, parameters, and effectiveness of remote view-
ing (RV).
Objectives:
   A. Provide access to all aspects of the research to the Scientific Oversight Commit-
tee (SOC).*
Task 1
Description: Provide statistical and basic research design protocols in ad-
vance of experiments.
         Deliverables: lst Quarter FY 88 (A report including the experimental pro-
'tocols for FY 88, and detailing the approvals and the review
process by the SOC.)
Task 2
          Description: Provide continuing access to on-going experiments to SOC
members.
Deliverables: None
Task 3
         Description: Provide final reports for inspection and critical review to the
SOC.
         Deliverables: 4th Quarter FY. 8 8 (A final technical report including the ex-
perimental results for FY 88, and detailing the SOC's review
comments.)
Cost: $ 89AK / yr--7.6%
The time-lines for all tasks during FY 1988 are the same: Start on 1-Oct-1987 and
end on 30-Sep-1988. The costing is computed on an objective-by-objective basis, and
the contractor is SRI International except where noted differently.

  B. Identify new and "excellent" remote viewers.
  Task 1
    Description: Using various techniques to include the video disk technology,
  screen, and confirm, as many potential RV candidates as pos-
  sible.
    Deliverables: 4th Quarter FY 88 (A report detailing the screening protocol,
  the method of approach, and results.)
  Cost: $303.7K / yr--26.0%
  C. Obtain successful replications of RV.
  Task 1
         Description: Provide supervision for the training of LANL personnel for
  for an eventual replication effort by examining RV quality as a
  function of weak magnetic environment.
  Deliverables: None
  Cost: $71.6K / yr--6. 1%
  D.. Determine a physiological indicator of psychoenergetic functioning.
  Task 1
         Description: Monitor and assist an independent contractor in determining
  the degree to which "remote" magnetic visual evoked poten-
  tials can be observed.
  Deliverables: None
  Cost: $62.5K / yr--5.4%
       E. Determine parameters of RV.
  Task 1
  Description: Measure RV quality as a function of differing types of robust
   feedback.
  Deliverables: 4th Quarter FY 88 (A report detailing the experimental proto-
   col, the method of approach, and results.)
  Task 2
   Description: Measure RV quality when various target properties are the
  independent variables for feedback.
    Deliverables: 4th Quarter FY 88 (A report detailing the experimental proto
                   col, the method of approach, and results.)

                 Description: Expand upon the hypnosis concepts developed during FY
            1987.

            Task 4
            Description: Determine the source of "mental noise" in, binary
            psychoenergetic tasks.
                 Deliverables: 4th Quarter FY 8 8 (A report detailing the experimental proto
                      col, the method of approach, and results.)
            Cost: $244.2K / yr--20.9%
            F. Improve upon the Fuzzy Set RV Analysis (FSRA) developed during FY 1987.
            Task 1
            Description: Determine the appropriate parameters for FSRA.
