On the basis of several telephone contacts and the attached request, the Navy program office involved with funding a fraction of the current SRI invertuatior was briefed concerning the CIA sponsored work. I SG1 ]was invited to attend the briefing, but was unali e to oe present. A list of attendees is given in the second attachment. 2. The group was told of the entire funded prograr beginning in 1972. 14aJor results of each of the efforts were reviewed. The internal sensitivity concerning the project was discussed. The internal conflicts involvin,,, the interpretation of the investigation were reviewed. The negative evaluation of ORD/LSR was emphasized. OpeTa- tional tests which continued after SRI funding stopped were mentioned as producing some good and some bad results. I believe that Captain Wheeler, Commander of the Naval Electronics Systems Comiiand, was rather overwheli-kLed with the information presented.
