Approved For Release 200WQVW t.%q0~rMM-00792RO001 00050001 -1 JIM Lm%o I% LW MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD SUBJECT: Security Hazard (U) 21 Jun 84 1.(U) On 15 June 1984, at 1330 this office received a telephone call from The Special Operations Detachment (SOD) , INSCOM that SOD had received a document which should have gone to our office. The undersigned immediately went to SOD and secured the document. 2. (S) The document was classified SECRET/CENTER LANE 4/NO FOREIGN DISSEMINATION. and had been sent to this office from the office of the SGFOIA~G INSCOM. The envelope containing the document was addressed simply OL Buzby. The only two people who had seen the document were the SOD courier , who had transported the document from Arlington Hall to SOD, a e SOD Secretary, who had opened the envelope and got the phone number of this office off the blame line of the document. SGFOIA'> SGFOIA3 SGFOIA3 3 (U) was interviewed on 18 June and was interviewed on 19 June 1984 concerning the incident. Both denied reading the document other than to obtain the telephone number of our office. Neither could recall any information contained in the document. Both individuals were informed of the sensitivity of the program and as a precaution they both executed a briefing and a debriefing statement. Both individuals are cleared for TOP SECRET and because of the nature of their duties they are used to working with highly sensitive information. Because of the above it i's highly unlikely that a compromise took place. 4. (S) The reason for the security hazard was the failure to follow the provisions of AR 380-5 concerning the addressing of classified material for transmission.
