      SUBJECT: CRV Stage Three Training (S/CL-1/NOFORN)
      (S/CL-1/NOFORN) This report is an amendment to Trip Report 6-22
      July 1982F SRI-I which discussed Stages One through Three.
      (S/CL-4/NOFORN) From 4-15 April 83, the undersigned was TDY to
      SRI-I for the purpose of learning Stage Three CRV techniques.
      This was the second two-week period of Stage Three training. It
      is anticipated that only one additional trip of two-weeks will
           be required to complete Stage Three. V)

           (S/CL-3/NOFORN) During this training period, I received lectures
      on refined ideograms. These lectures were helpful. The
      ideograms being produced are both more accurate and contain
      larger quantities of data.
      (S/CL-3/NOFORN) Bilocation problems were also addressed during
      these lectures. Bilocation means two locations. This means the
      viewer has his perceptions at the site and in the viewing room,
      simultaneously. This allows the viewer to perceive information
      at the site and to objectify this information and do analysis in
      the viewing room. This balance of site and viewing room is very
      important.
      (S/CL-3/NOFORN) If the viewer is too deeply into the signal
      from the site, he will not be able to adequately analyze his
      data to put it into a usable form. Long periods of silence is
      an indicator that the viewer is too deeply into the signal.

      throughout this training period. These sites required refined
      ideograms and Stage Two signals. These detailed signals allowed

         SUBJECT: CRV Stage Three Training (S/CL-I/NOFORN)
         more accurate and detailed Stage Three sketches to be produced.
         During the next training period, additionallydifficult sites will
         be used which will assist in the production of more detailed
         sketches.
         (S/CL-4/NOFORN) During this training period a new student was
         introduced into the training program. This student is a female
         civilian employee (GS-9) of NSA. There were numerous problems
         with her selection as a trainee that were overlooked by NSA.
         Although these problems primarily affect her ability to be
         trained,, they also affect Mr. Swann's time and abilities to
         train the undersigned. (See trip report, subject: NSA
         Participation on CRV Training at SRI-I.)
         (S/CL-4/NOFORN) Because of the intensive nature of the Stage
         One training of this new student, Mr. Swann's time with the
         undersigned is inhibited. Instruction is still professionally
         accomplished; however, this tends to make the days longer and
         often more tiring.
         (S/CL-3/NOFORN) Stage Three training is proceeding well in
         spite of the above listed obstacles. I feel I am learning a
         great deal and the quality of the products I produce is
         continuing to improve.
