(S/ORCON) The 16 selectees were further evaluated by IGFP personnel to determine which would best adapt to the concept of being able to use psychic phenomena in the intelligence field. Based on this criteria, eleven were chosen to be "read on" to the initial phases of the IGFP. On 8 February 1979, these eleven personnel were briefed on the training concept of the IGFP and asked whether or not they would like to partici- pate in the program. They were also questioned about their availability for the IGFP, how they felt about possessing psychic powers, and personal problems which would have an impact on their ability to participate in the IGFP. One individual stated that he had prior commitments which would make him unavailable for the initial phases of the IGFP. The remaining ten selectees volunteered for training and participation in the IGFP. 4. (S/ORCON) On 14 February 1979, Dr. Harold E. Puthoff and Russell Targ of Stanford Research Institute (SRI), Menlo Park, California, the contracting organization of for training personnel in the IGFP, inter- viewed the volunteers to select three for training at SRI. After inter- viewing the volunteers, Puthoff and Targ recommended that six of the ten volunteers be selected for further screening at SRI. This screening would consist of a one-week testing/evaluation period for each of the six final volunteers. From this screening process they would then select three individuals for further training. IGFP personnel are evaluating this proposal at this time. "MURRAY B WATT I Major, MI INSCOM GRILL FLAME Project Officer It Approved For Release 20n_ wAIM "A@ 02000240038-4
